Academic Direction (AD)
The Academic Direction (AD) is a central body at University of St. Thomas of Mozambique responsible for executing academic processes within the university. These processes include: a) Recordingall academic actions of students from admission to graduation; b) Supporting and supervisingthe execution of organizational and normative activities; c) Monitoring the organization of the teaching and learning process (classes, assessments, internships) according to the Pedagogical Regulation.
The AD is structured to enhance the efficiency of its activities in coordination with the Organic Units. It is composed of a Director, an Assistant Director, and two Departments with two Coordinations each.
Activities by Department
Coordination of Planning and Pedagogical Supervision
Responsibilities:
- Pedagogical support to all organic units;
- Monitor the operation of discipline groups;
- Ensure the production of analytical plans across all organic units;
- Monitor compliance with course workload and content plans;
- Monitor the admission and allocation of faculty members;
- Monitor the effectiveness and attendance of faculty members;
- Ensure adherence to the Pedagogical Regulation;
- Produce reports on pedagogical monitoring and supervision.
Coordination of Curriculum Development and Faculty Training
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities;
- Monitoring the development of curricula for new courses;
- Support for organic units in the periodic review (cycles) of curricula;
- Design and implementation of short-term courses;
- Monitor faculty training;
- Design and implementation of faculty development programs;
- Encourage the production of teaching materials that serve as references for specific disciplines;
- Support course accreditation processes.
Coordination of Pedagogical Assessment
Responsibilities:
- Develop the annual academic calendar;
- Monitor compliance with the academic calendar;
- Prepare the announcement for new admissions;;
- Design and administer pedagogical assessment surveys, course evaluations, and evaluations of the teaching-learning process;
- Produce annual reports on pedagogical assessment, academic reports, and faculty performance reports.
Coordination of Supervision of Final Projects and Graduations
Responsibilities:
- Supervise curricular internships;
- Monitor the processes of final project defenses;
- Monitor the effectiveness of defenses;
- Oversee the issuance of certificates and diplomas;
- Support the organization of graduation ceremonies.
